We are looking to appoint 2 Consultant Gastroenterologists to join our team.
These are new posts to support the expanding gastroenterology department. We seek candidates who can help deliver our endoscopy service, contribute to endoscopic training, and manage subspecialty outpatient gastroenterology. The post holder will also participate in general medical and gastroenterology inpatient care on our home ward and our out-of-hours GI bleeding service.
The post is for 10 Programmed Activities; part-time applications or job shares will be considered.

Main duties of the job
1. Provide senior clinician services to the department as per job plan or as agreed within the Trust, including on-call duties.
2. Provide senior clinical support for specialty in-reach to the Acute Medical Unit (AMU).
3. Provide training for doctors, nursing, and AHP colleagues.
4. Maintain standards in endoscopic practice according to Joint Advisory Group in GI Endoscopy (JAG) and British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG).
5. Participate in the out-of-hours GI bleeding rota.
6. Work with colleagues to ensure efficient use of Trust resources and contribute to clinical governance and quality enhancement projects.
7. Deliver endoscopic, inpatient, and outpatient services, ensuring efficient NHS resource use.
8. Show flexibility and undertake various clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions as requested.
9. Participate actively in the Unit’s Teaching Programme and supervise, teach, and train medical trainees and staff.
10. Engage in clinical guideline development, audits, and CPD activities.

Person specification
Qualifications/Training
* MRCP or equivalent
* Full GMC Registration
* CCST or CCT in Gastroenterology or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at interview
* Competent in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy
* Ability to take full responsibility for patient care and emergencies
Knowledge
* Participation in audit
* Experience in training and education
