Maple ward is a 20 bedded ring fenced elective orthopaedic ward. This is an excellent opportunity to join our team which also practices enhance recovery.
We aim to deliver the highest standard of care to our patients whilst maintaining a high level of customer service. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that you have a firm understanding of the role of a registered nurse (band 5). However, we are expanding and we would also consider other experiences such as surgery, acute medicine or CCU. We will also consider applications from student nurses, considering that you will qualify within 12 weeks.
The following are some of the courses/programmes that we will be able to support you with if successful for this post:
· Immediate life support (ILS)
· Recognising a deteriorating patient
· Pain control
· Principles of enhanced recovery
· Band five development
· Clinical supervisor
· Venepuncture and cannula insertion
· Catheter training
· Orthopaedic modules
· Orthopaedic Masters
· Preceptorship if appropriate

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a consistently high standard of care to meet patient needs and Unit objectives.
The post holder must demonstrate clinical expertise in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care using an holistic approach.
The post holder must possess fundamental management and facilitation skills in order to coordinate and supervise the activity of Unit staff, promote multi-disciplinary working and fostera supportive, learning environment.
In the absence of the Nurse the post holder will assume responsibility for the effective operation of the Unit.
As a Registered Nurse the post holder is expected to consistently act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
