The Tarentfort Centre is a 20 bedded rehabilitation inpatient unit catering for men from the age of 18. It comprises two clinical areas: an acute and sub-acute learning disability forensic.
We specialise in the assessment and treatment of men with a learning disability whose offending behaviour and complex mental health needs require care in a low secure setting.
The ward consists of a multi-disciplinary team of health care assistants, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, speech and language therapists, doctors, and consultants.
Main duties of the job
The role is a key member of the multidisciplinary care team and will have continuing responsibility to:
1. Carry out comprehensive nursing assessments and be responsible for producing individualised nursing care plans for named patients.
2. Coordinate and implement the nursing care plan for individual patients and inform the multi-disciplinary team of progress in the treatment process.
3. Provide leadership to the healthcare worker using supervision and IPR and to work under the guidance and management of the Clinical Manager.
The ideal candidate for the role will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) with strong interpersonal skills and good communication both verbal and written. You will be committed to working with people with severe mental health problems in a secure environment.
Knowledge of forensic services and a full driving licence are desirable.

You will commence the role on the band 3 pay scale while we provide you with a full 6 months training programme. On successful completion of your training, you will be promoted to band 5 as a fully qualified nurse. Please state Return to Nursing within your application under Professional Qualifications. The New Hire Bonus will not apply to Return to Nursing applications.
What is High Cost Area Allowance?
The High-Cost Area (HCA) allowance, also referred to as London Weighting, is a payment made to employees who work in London and the surrounding areas.
As this post is based in Dartford, Gravesham, or Swanley, the successful applicant will receive an additional payment each month, which is 5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £1,258 and a maximum payment of £2,121. (the agreed annual amount will be divided into 12 equal amounts and paid monthly).
