The Headteacher and Governors at Tylers Green Middle School are looking to appoint a Caretaker to replace our current much appreciated Mr Hazell who is retiring in July after 7.5 years at our school.
Job Salary: £24,879 - £26,961 (pro rata for 34.5 hours, approx. £23,198 - £25,139 PA)
plus 5.5 hours additional pay for road patrol crossing (£3,074 PA)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours in total

Tylers Green Middle School, a two form entry junior school, is located on the edge of the Chilterns in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Our school buildings house outstanding specialist teaching facilities as well as extensive sports fields, an indoor swimming pool and an outdoor conservation area. About the role
The main work areas for our caretaker are as follows:
* Taking responsibility for the management and maintenance of our school swimming pool, which is very busy with lettings seven days a week. The Caretaker tests the water regularly throughout the day, keeps accurate records of tests and liaises with the external swim schools. They also deal with all the chemicals for the pool and looks after the plant room.
* Maintenance is an important part of the role and will include minor repairs, decorating, plumbing and DIY jobs.
* Site security involves locking, unlocking and keeping the site safe at all times.
* The caretaker also carries out the statutory H&S testing in school such as checking fire prevention equipment, legionella water testing, ladder registers, hazardous substances and lots more. These are done regularly and need recording accurately.
* Lots of contractors are involved in running a school and the caretaker is the main point of contact for them.
* The caretaker also does the road crossing patrol twice a day before and after school.
* Finally, the caretaker role is residential and the suitable candidate will be expected to live on the school site.

* Confident with DIY and general maintenance, ideally including plumbing and decorating
* Open to learning all about how to maintain and manage a swimming pool including a mechanical plant room
* Able to liaise with contractors in school or via phone and email
* Confident with literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
