Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant York Start Date: December 2024 Are you somebody with experience of working with people with special educational needs that would like to work in a positive and rewarding environment? Vision for Education are currently working in partnership with client schools in York, one of which is specifically seeking a teaching assistant to provide support to children with special educational needs from September 2024 or earlier. As a SEN teaching assistant, you will provide support to young learners on a group and 1:1 basis, allowing them to grow and develop in their learning. With the potential for this role becoming permanent, the school are looking for someone that can demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for the role, and that can immerse themselves in the culture of the school from the outset. With good public transport links around the school too, this is also easily accessible for those relying on public transport. Key Responsibilities: Providing specialist support to those with SEN, ensuring they are learning in a safe and welcoming environment. Assisting other professionals in planning and preparing learning materials. Supporting young people with special educational needs on a 1:1 basis. Adapting teacher support according to individual student needs. The ideal candidate will have: Previous experience working in a special educational needs (SEN) or other care environment. A passion for working with young people. Moving and handling training beneficial (training also provided if needed) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
