You'll help us to provide operational and technical support for the IT & Data Management systems in the Antarctic. The IT Engineer will be a flexible and capable IT professional able to support a wide range of equipment. A large proportion of the work is the maintenance of existing equipment and daily routine support for scientists and support staff, but there is opportunity to be involved in larger projects. There will be training available to fill in skill gaps, this may be formal or in house. You will be expected to be available in Cambridge for a three-month period starting in August, learning the BAS systems before travelling south, then a handover with the outgoing engineer. Current projects the team are working on include the commissioning of the new Operations and Science Support building at Rothera Research station.
