Here at Serco, we are looking for a Safeguarding and Public Protection Prison Support
Officer to join the team at our new state of the art Category C prison, HMP Fosse Way.
The role of a Safeguarding and Public Protection Prison Support Officer is to offer
Operational Support within Offender Management Unit.
What we are looking for
- This position requires upmost trust and decorum when dealing with sensitiveinformation.
- A team player with flexibility and interpersonal skills with visitors, staff andprisoners. Good communication skills and the ability to monitor and audit
processes and procedures.
- Organisational and analytical skills.
- Understanding of working in a secure environment
Full training will be provided, and the following duties will include
- To report directly to the Public Protection Manager and carry out the dutiesdetailed by them.
- To process child contact applications from prisoners in accordance with thePublic Protection Manual. Closely liaising with external agencies to complete this
process.
- To collate and gather information from prisoners files on arrival at HMP FosseWay, processing this information into a format that can be effectively shared with
internal and external agencies.
- Effectively manage prisoners ViSOR records, updating any information whenrequired.(full training will be provided and paid by Serco)
Serco Business
- To monitor telephone calls, incoming and outgoing mail and to report anyintelligence gathered from this monitoring. Follow any process resulting from the
intelligence gathered.
- To ensure that all monitoring is conducted within the relevant legislation and thatthe correct authority is granted to do so before any monitoring takes place.
- Ensure that all monitoring is logged correctly and the required data from thatmonitoring stored safely and securely.
- To ensure that all prisoners with restrictions will have the relevant checks beforebeing added to their list.
- To liaise with the Police Information Officer and support them in the gathering ofevidence.
- To gather intelligence from IRs and assist the Security ManagerThe following are desirable but not essential
- Experience of a secure environment or of similar client group.
- Process management.
- Report writing, numerate (interpretation and collection presentation of statistics).
- Knowledge and understanding of the Serco Custodial Security Strategy (SCSS),associated PSO/PSI’s and Local Operating Procedures
