GSL Education is currently seeking an English Teacher for one of the local SEN Schools in Andover. The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English education for young people (age 11-19) with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Conditions; typically, high functioning and/or associated disorders, creating captivating lesson plans, and closely monitoring student progress.
The English Teacher is expected to adhere to the national curriculum and employ diverse teaching methods to ensure effective learning for all students. As a valued member of the English department, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Faculty. The school places a high value on imparting fundamental skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving with a touch of creativity, qualities integral to its ethos and expected from its staff.
Responsibilities:
* Develop, prepare, and deliver English lessons aligned with the national curriculum and tailored to individual student needs.
* Utilise various teaching methods, including lectures, group activities, and practical experiments, to engage students and support their learning.
* Regularly assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, homework, and tests.
* Provide constructive feedback to students and parents, identifying areas for improvement and success strategies.
* Incorporate technology and other resources to enhance the learning experience.
* Participate in extracurricular activities, such as English clubs, fairs, and field trips, to further engage and inspire students.
* Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to develop and implement school-wide programs and initiatives.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in English or a related field.
* Teaching certification or qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
* Previous experience teaching English to school students.
* Profound knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment methods.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Collaborative team player.
* Updated DBS.
