Quality Lead – Oncology Pharmacist

As the Quality Lead - Oncology Pharmacist, you’ll be responsible for national oncology pharmacy leadership within Nuffield Health, supporting our pharmacists at local site level and working directly with the Quality Lead for Cancer Services.
You’ll assume accountability for clinical quality and safety of oncology pharmacy in order to deliver the highest quality cancer patient care: care that is patient-centred, evidence-based, brand-defining, and innovative; delivered by trained, motivated, and compassionate teams; in line with organisational, regulatory, and governance requirements.
The opportunity
This Quality Lead - Oncology Pharmacist is a high-profile national role that offers an exciting opportunity to drive a strong patient safety culture throughout the organisation, encouraging staff to call out and report safety concerns. You will promote effective clinical risk management within the organisation – reviewing high-level risk assessments and investigations as well as proactively identifying and managing safety issues within onco-pharmacy across the business.
Other key responsibilities include:
1. Ensuring effective oncology pharmacy governance is in place in line with best practice.
2. Developing the IQemo e-prescribing system and protocol library.
3. Conducting high-quality and timely incident investigations utilizing the IQemo system, escalating where necessary and sharing lessons learned nationally.
4. Championing evidence-based practices in medicines management nationally, particularly in oncology pharmacy, in line with GPhC, BOPA, RPS, and organisational policies and procedures.
5. Ensuring all Cancer SACT provision within the hospitals are delivered safely and in accordance with national guidance, standards, and policy.
6. Leading governance activity within the organisation related to onco-pharmacy, promoting and embedding clinical effectiveness and ensuring full compliance with Nuffield Health’s Quality governance framework and national standards.
7. Overseeing care delivery and management at all cancer sites.
8. Critically analysing national data and results in order to share learning and continually improve services.
9. Embedding processes in the organisation, across teams that safeguard and enhance the care of vulnerable people, ensuring that the patient remains at the centre of decision-making.
10. Being an active member of the Medicines Management EAG and Cancer Services EAG, supporting quality improvement activity in cancer care and the development of organisational Policy and Guidelines.
11. Active involvement in the Cancer Services Quality Reviews (QAR).
12. Defining quality standards, measures, and national audit plans for oncology pharmacy.
To be successful in this role, you will be registered with the GPhC with a postgraduate qualification or extensive post-registration training in oncology pharmacy. You’ll be able to demonstrate strong post-registration experience in cancer pharmacy within a specialist unit along with BOPA membership.
This role may require some clinical work at one of our hospital sites, but can be discussed as part of the hiring process.
You will be an experienced leader with strong people management skills. You will have taken ownership of staff development including development and delivery of training and mentoring in the area of oncology.
You will also have experience in the development of SACT e-prescribing systems and the management of SACT protocol libraries and the concurrent due diligence processes, as well as possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills.
