Job overview
Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist looking to join our innovative service supporting adults in the community? You will provide specialist speech and language therapy to people with a range of complex medical conditions/social needs and associated problems, completing visits in patients' homes and outpatient clinics. You will receive one-to-one clinical support, professional development, and regular supervision, giving you the opportunity to further develop your skills in a variety of clinical areas such as our weekly Videofluoroscopy clinic and dysphagia management.
You will be working alongside wider multi-disciplinary teams within community services, which is made up of Physiotherapy, Community Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Social Workers. You will also work with colleagues from a variety of other agencies.
Please note: this is a full-time post.
Main duties of the job
You will engage in clinical triage of new referrals, using advanced clinical reasoning and interpretation skills to analyze complex clinical and non-clinical information to prioritize clinical urgency. You will complete assessments of swallowing and communication disorders as required, contributing to patient diagnoses and recommending the most appropriate SaLT interventions. You will communicate sensitively and effectively with patients and/or carers to promote understanding and ensure inclusion in decision-making wherever possible.
You will take responsibility for your own caseload in line with your experience and competence, ensuring you reflect and evaluate your own practice and participate in supervision with colleagues.

* Appropriate relevant post-graduate experience working in a community setting
* Evidence of managing a Dysphagia caseload in the community
