Lead the execution of a vibrant summer programme, ensuring safe, well-coordinated excursions and memorable activities. About the role Role type: Fixed term, Residential Dates: For course dates between start of July and middle of August 2025 Working pattern: Saturday to Saturday, up to 55 hours per week on a shift pattern with overnight duties. 1 day off per week. Reports to: Deputy Course Director This role involves organising and executing day trips and managing on-site events, including evening activities. The manager will oversee Course Coordinators, ensuring they are fully briefed on plans and responsibilities. As a senior team member, the Activity and Excursion Manager will collaborate with pastoral leadership to support residential duties. Main duties Excursions - Leading the preparation and delivery of day trips, creating engaging enrichment activities that enhance students’ learning and enjoyment. Programme management -Overseeing the on-site activity schedule, including evening events and recreational activities for a smooth, engaging program. Staff supervision - Briefing a team of Course Coordinators with detailed schedules, trip logistics, and overseeing their responsibilities. Collaboration - Working with senior leadership to align activities with course objectives and provide a cohesive student experience. Risk assessments - Ensuring safety protocols are in place for all excursions, maintaining high standards of safety and well-being. Activity quality - Monitoring activity quality and engagement, adapting plans to ensure valuable experiences while managing costs. Welfare - Assisting with pastoral care, ensuring the wellbeing of students. Residential duties - Up to 10 hrs per week, as part of the residential team including morning registrations, meal time supervision, curfew checks and overnight phone duty. About you You’re a creative and organised leader who thrives in planning enriching and enjoyable experiences for students. You’re able to manage logistics, people, and multiple activities while maintaining a high standard of student engagement and safety. You can create structured and meaningful enrichment activities, ensuring each trip and activity is both educational and enjoyable. You’re comfortable leading a team and ensuring clear communication, fostering a positive and organised environment. Essential Experience of organising educational trips or activities in academic or residential settings, with strong team management skills to ensure smooth operations. Clear evidence of detailed logistical planning and scheduling, with a focus on creating engaging and exciting activities that enhance the experience for children. Proven ability to lead teams effectively, ensuring activities and trips run smoothly and safely while fostering a positive environment. Excellent organisational and planning skills to manage multiple activities and trips simultaneously, complemented by strong communication and leadership abilities. Right to work in the UK (we cannot sponsor work visas for this role) Desirable Knowledge of educational enrichment activities and methods to make trips more engaging for students, as well as safety and risk management practices in trip planning. Experience working in international or multicultural environments, with an understanding of diverse student backgrounds, and within summer school programs or other short-term residential education settings. Familiarity with local attractions and venues, enhancing the ability to plan exciting and relevant excursions for students.
