Job Description:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is a permanent, part-time position of 14.9 hours. (Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part-time hours.
The shift pattern for this position is Wed-Fri.
A part-time post of 14.9hrs has become available in the headache service. The post holder will work under the supervision of the Headache Nurse Specialist Band 7 to support a high quality, easily accessible, timely clinical service for patients requiring specialist management of headache, primarily Medication overuse, chronic migraine, and chronic daily headache.
The post holder works autonomously in assessing, formulating, adapting, and evaluating highly complex clinical decisions and treatment plans to manage acute and chronic illness that relates to a patient’s disease or treatment. The role requires the post holder to provide expert clinical advice, nursing leadership, and consultancy for medical, nursing, and allied health professionals, ensuring the highest standard of effective personalised nursing care is delivered to patients and their families in partnership with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
You must have the ability to work independently and possess excellent communication skills to manage the collaborative telephone advice lines/triage of incoming calls, in-patient referrals, interface with hospital clinicians and general practitioners, and delivery of clinical support with a high level of IT skills. You will work closely with other Headache CNSs and Neurology CNS team members across the directorate to support the existing service where necessary.
It is essential that you are a Registered Adult Nurse with NMC pin with significant post-registration experience or can evidence transferable skills suitable to this role. You would be required to have a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience.
