Due to retirement, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced phlebotomist to join our practice team.
Main duties of the job
The primary purpose of the post is to support the practice clinical team in the delivery of our phlebotomy service. You will be working within the Nursing Team as a trained, caring, and professional phlebotomist.

Red & Green Practice is a large practice with 24,000 patients on the edge of the New Forest, with surgeries at Hythe & Blackfield and is part of the Waterside Primary Care Network.
Job responsibilities
1. Ensuring patient is comfortable, put at ease, and gives consent.
2. Checking patient identification and confirming wherever possible.
3. Following safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to infection control protocols.
4. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice procedures and protocols.
5. Labeling and storing blood samples correctly to prevent contamination.
6. Recording collection of blood samples in the patient record in accordance with practice procedure.
7. Ensuring the samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.
8. Assisting in phlebotomy stock ordering and maintaining adequate stocks of consumables and equipment in the work area, taking delivery of stores and identifying shortages of any items.
9. Membership of MDDUS provided by the Practice.

Experience
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Open, friendly, and the ability to work on your own as well as part of a team.
* Adaptable and flexible, willing to learn.
* Aware of own limitations.
* Flexibility will be required for sickness and annual leave cover.
* Knowledge of EMIS Web.
