We are excited to advertise this development post for a passionate and enthusiastic, HCPC registered, Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
We have a small, friendly Psychology team comprising of a Principal Clinical Psychologist, a highly specialist Clinical Psychologist, a CBT therapist and 2 Assistant Psychologists. We are committed to trauma-informed care, practicing from a range of models such as psychodynamic, schema-informed therapy, CBT, and DBT, adjusting our work to meet the needs of neurodivergent individuals.
We have close links with local Clinical Psychology Doctoral courses, routinely offering Adult and specialist placements to trainee Clinical Psychologists. We encourage 3rd year trainee Clinical Psychologists to apply, especially if your specialist placement is in CMHT/Complex mental Health services. This vacancy provides excellent career development opportunities, with support for accessing formal psychological therapy training, supported by NHSE on modalities such as SCM, CAT, and CBT for Psychosis.
Main duties of the job
The Trust is committed to supporting career progression for Practitioner Psychologists. The successful candidate will receive extensive professional and clinical supervision, alongside opportunities to develop their specialist clinical and professional skills through a well-resourced CPD structure.
For the qualified 8A candidate, supervision training is essential.
Responsibilities include:
1. Providing a highly specialist psychology service to clients with complex psychological and mental health presentations.
2. Conducting specialist psychological assessments and interventions.
3. Providing consultation and advice on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and other non-professional carers.
4. Supervising trainees, assistant psychologists, and other qualified psychological practitioners as agreed.
5. Working autonomously within professional guidelines and the service's policies and procedures.
6. Engaging regularly with clinical supervision and CPD activities according to professional registration requirements.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, counselling or health psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996).
* HCPC Registered (Band 8a).
* BABCP/UKCP or other relevant registration professional body (Band 8a).
* Additional Psychotherapy qualification/training relevant to working with complex presentations in one or more psychological therapies (e.g., CBT, Compassion-focused Therapy, Brief interpersonal therapy, Dynamic Interpersonal therapy).
* Supervision training (Band 8a).
* Core NHS/Social Services professional training.
Knowledge & Expertise
* Skills in conducting complex psychological assessment and intervention requiring sustained concentration.
* Well-developed skills in effectively communicating complex and/or clinically sensitive information to clients and professional colleagues.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Skills in providing consultation to other professionals and non-professional groups (Band 8a).
* Knowledge of legislation related to the client group and mental health.
* Knowledge of supervision theory and practice.
* Skills in working with people with complex and specialist needs.
* Ability to apply psychological knowledge creatively in developing new initiatives.
* Experience of liaison with other health professionals (Band 8a).
* Experience of providing teaching and training (Band 8a).

Experience
* Post-qualification NHS experience of working as a clinical, counselling, or health psychologist with adult clients with varied psychological problems.

* Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care within multi-disciplinary teams.
* Experience of working as part of a multi-professional team.
* Experience of providing clinical supervision (Band 8a).
* Experience of working with Older Adults (Band 8a).
