Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare?
We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical team at our Taunton unit working 18.5 hours per week on a Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. A detailed shift pattern can be found below.
About the role:
You will provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception, and vasectomy. You will be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment and will work in all areas of the unit including theatre and recovery. This role will involve providing treatment and clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.
About You
You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with active NMC registration and PIN. You will have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding & Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential for this role.
With excellent interpersonal & communication skills you will be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate & empathetic way. You will also be comfortable using IT & MS Packages including Outlook, Word & MS Teams.
Main duties of the job
* You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
* Ensure that the clientunderstands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosingtermination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
* Provide informationon STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, informand confirm the clients future choice of contraception.
* Carefully check forand implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, includingadministering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervicalpreparation.
* Carry out posttreatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client anddiscussing any concerns
* Complete relevantpaperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements withthe clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
* To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. Thiscould include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
We are also looking for:
* Sound & accurateadministrative competence with attention to detail
* Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexualhealth, contraception
* Venepuncture / cannulationskills

Salary: £36,938 - £44,625 per annum, (this is pro rata for part time hours) - depending on skills and experience.
Shift Pattern: 18.5 hours per week
* Wednesday 09:00 to 17:00
* Thursday 09:00 to 14:30
* Friday 09:00 to 14:30

Experience
* Clinical practice experience of at least 12 months.
* Experience of general nursing or midwifery.
* Experience completing client documentation and working within guidelines, policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH requirements and infection control
* Gynaecological nursing experience or relevant speciality i.e. sexual health, contraception
Qualifications
* Registered Adult Nurse level 1 / Registered Midwife (practising)
* Active NMC registration and valid PIN
* Ultrasound scanning skills
