Elevation Recruitment Group are working with an industrial machinery business, specialising in the design, build and installation of steel processing equipment, to help them recruit an Electrical & Automation Engineer, based in Sheffield. My client is an £80m TO international business with a focus on new ecological solutions for green steel production, the digitalization of all production-related processes, advanced automation, future-oriented designs for linked casting and rolling, as well as advanced process analysis and optimization.
The Electrical & Automation Engineer will play an essential role in the delivery of complex solutions throughout the full project lifecycle. They will form a key part of the Electrical and Automation Engineering team, providing engineering services for the company, responsible for the electrical / automation engineering of a specific portion of a product or project.
Duties include:
1. Working with other engineering centres / teams to provide Electrical Plant integration for larger and multi-disciplinary projects.
2. Leading the design, engineering, and commissioning of the Electrical & Automation portion of the project.
3. Supporting the Projects Proposals Team in preparing Technical Specifications for the Electrical & Automation portion of the project.
4. Producing technically compliant and cost-effective design documentation; drawings, specifications, calculations, manuals etc. for a specific area/equipment and meet project requirements and company operating procedures / statutory obligations.
5. Working with the engineering manager / Project Engineer as the technical focus for a specific function of a project ensuring a successful and commercially viable contract execution. This would include reporting budgets, progress, and change management.
6. Providing technical support to ensure that equipment is manufactured, tested, installed, and commissioned in accordance with the design and operational requirements, either from the office or at site.
7. Developing, maintaining, and cultivating relationships with Clients, Suppliers, Sub Contractors to ensure successful execution of the project and future business.
8. Involvement with site support and commissioning of some products and equipment at clients’ sites.
Required Qualification/Experience:
1. Degree qualified in Electrical Controls or Automation Engineering.
2. Ability to solve problems quickly and positively.
3. Experience of project engineering and the full project lifecycle.
4. Significant experience within machine design and instrumentation.
5. Experience and understanding of sizing and application of motors to optimize machine design is highly desirable.
6. Knowledge of functional safety systems for industrial control.
7. Must have current UK Driving License, as well as the right to live and work in the UK and travel internationally without restrictions.
