A rare opportunity has arisen within Barnsley which is seeking to recruit an Advanced Practitioner to join the Practice Development Hub. This is the perfect opportunity for a forward-thinking, motivated, and dedicated practitioner to support teams and social workers in delivering the very best outcomes for our children and young people.
What will your responsibilities be?
You will take personal responsibility for continuing professional development and maintaining performance levels. You will manage your time effectively and respond flexibly to service needs. You will support and assess student social workers on placement in Barnsley. As a key member of our Social Work Academy, you will provide supervision, support, and guidance to Newly Qualified social workers in their Assessed and Supported Year in practice, alongside team managers. You will develop and deliver training aligned to the Barnsley Stronger Together practice model, to support learning and drive best practice across Children’s Social Care. Working closely with the Quality Assurance Team, you will ensure that learning from audit is embedded in our training and development. You will work with partners to drive multi-agency working and good practice across services. Additionally, you will ensure that staff and teams have the resources and tools to support their professional development and offer mentoring and support to colleagues. You will work with colleagues in the Hub and alongside the Practice Development Manager and Principal Social Worker to develop, drive, and deliver our practice model, continuous professional development, and training offer for children’s social workers and practitioners. You will not be expected to have case holding responsibility in this role.

Qualifications and Experiences:
To be successful in this role, you must have a recognised Social Work qualification, registration with Social Work England, and significant post-qualification experience, including supervision and mentoring.
