An exciting position has become available for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Forensic Service on our rehabilitation inpatient ward, Ty Skirrid.
The post holder is a key member of the in-patient multi-disciplinary team working within a rehabilitation-focused service. There is a need to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork, with strong leadership skills. The post holder will deputise for the ward manager and be responsible for coordinating, delivering, and maintaining a high standard of clinical care for all patients. They will provide support to the ward manager and clinical leadership to the ward team, as well as guidance and supervision of junior nursing staff. The post holder will ensure that systems are used to incorporate Essence of Care and any other adopted models of quality assurance and clinical governance into everyday practice. They will have an interest in furthering their clinical skills and will undertake further training as required.
To work within codes of practice and professional guidelines.
The post holder may be required to work in other areas of the Health Board to meet service needs.
To take on the primary nurse role for a number of patients on the ward and handle patient valuables.
To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the clinical care of patients, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
To communicate sensitive information concerning patients' conditions.
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the deputy ward manager/ward manager, lead the clinical management of patients to ensure that high standards of nursing care are achieved and maintained.
Ensuring that nursing staff on the ward provides the agreed standards of treatment, care, and activity for patients.
To take on the primary nurse role for a number of patients on the ward and handle patient valuables.
To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the clinical care of patients, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
To communicate sensitive information concerning patients' conditions.
To use persuasive reassurance skills as patients have mental health issues, some with special needs and/or learning disabilities.
