At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision in the new Swindon Plan is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.
In this position, you will provide a consistent service to families with the aim of achieving high quality contact between children and their families. You will work as part of a team for Children Services to facilitate and supervise contact sessions between children/young people and their families.
You will ensure that Family Time for children and their families is safe and positive. You will support children and identify, and manage any situation that may pose a risk to themselves or others. You will write meaningful factual notes of the sessions, which may be required in the court arena.
Your role will involve providing support to children and young people outside of their family home. Clear communication with children, young people, and parents/carers is essential, as you will be working with diverse members of the public.
This role will involve lone working at times, requiring you to make difficult decisions quickly and remain calm in highly emotional situations.
You must be educated to GCSE standard with experience of working with children and young people. Good knowledge and understanding of the development and complex needs of children and young people, including all spectrums of disabilities, is necessary.
You will need to take legible proficient notes to be shared with other professionals and multi-agencies, and you must be computer literate.
This role will require you to work days, evenings, and weekends to meet the needs of the service. There will be some requirements to travel outside of the borough.
This organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this position, as well as the ability to travel throughout the Borough and access to a car.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation while supporting ongoing personal development and a flexible work-life balance.
