Learning Support Assistant - Borehamwood
Ae you a recent graduate who would like love to work in a warm and friendly primary school as a learning support assistant in order to gain more experience prior to embarking on a teacher-training course.
Maybe you have experience already working with young people but would like to formalise this experience in a primary school setting?
Perhaps you have been thinking about teacher training but you are eager to gain vital class-based experience first before jumping in?
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join the team at a wonderful, flourishing primary school in Borehamwood from Nov 2024 until at least July 2025.
This is a long-term role until July but the Head Teacher is keen on offering a permanent contract to the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will provide support to students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, ensuring that they are able to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
* Learning Support Assistant - Borehamwood - 85 to 90 per day
* Outstanding Ofsted rated primary school with onsite parking
* Long-term & full-time until at least July 2025
Responsibilities:
* Supporting students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, as directed by the class teacher or SENCO
* Assisting with the planning and delivery of lessons, activities, and resources that are tailored to individual needs
* Monitoring and recording progress and achievements of students, and providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers
* Promoting positive behaviour and social interaction among students, and intervening when necessary to manage challenging behaviour
* Helping to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that is conducive to learning and well-being of all students
* Undertaking administrative tasks and other duties as required by the school
Requirements:
* Experience of working with children or young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), preferably in a school setting
* Good knowledge of the national curriculum and different teaching strategies that can be used to support students with SEND
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies
* A positive, empathetic, and patient attitude, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
* A willingness to undertake training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills
* Able to commute to Borehamwood.
