We are Glengoyne. Since 1833, we have been making our wonderful malt whisky. We have a multi award-winning premium whisky and our visitor experience is rated on Trip Advisor as one of Scotland’s top-rated tourist attractions! Nestled in a beautiful and picturesque setting just north of Glasgow, stands our beautiful Glengoyne Distillery. At the heart of our brand, product and experience are our people… it’s our people who make the magic happen!
Our Opportunity…
We currently have opportunities for experienced, hardworking and reliable individuals to join the Glengoyne family within our retail team, in the role of Distillery Ambassador. As part of our retail team you will be responsible for assisting visitors in our distillery shop, advising and guiding customers with their purchases, and ensuring that a consistently high quality retail experience is offered to those visiting Glengoyne.
We’re looking for someone with strong customer service skills, who can use their own initiative, has a positive work attitude and a proactive approach. Our experience offering is varied and our visitors come from all over the world to learn about Glengoyne whisky, so the ability to adapt and build rapport with different types of customers is essential. Typical daily tasks include sharing your product knowledge to advise customers, processing transactions, receiving orders and replenishing stock, and maintaining the presentation standards of the retail space.
The retail shop operates between 10.00am and 7.00pm, seven days per week; however, this is dependent on the needs of the business and hours may vary in line with consumer demand.
What We Will Provide You…
This is a permanent job opportunity with a highly competitive hourly rate of £12.60. In addition, we offer a generous benefits package including enhanced annual leave, company pension scheme, and product discount to name but a few.
We are looking for candidates who can be flexible in their approach as this role will offer less working hours in the Winter months compared to the rest of the year. Our Distillery Ambassador roles are offered on an annualised hours contract, meaning you will receive a guaranteed monthly income.

ROLE SUMMARY
Our Distillery Ambassadors are the public face of Glengoyne and Ian Macleod Distillers. Your role is to bring our world-class processes and spirits to life, communicating the essence of the brand in a way that fundamentally delights consumers, inspiring long-term brand devotion. The role involves the delivery of all customer service in our distillery retail shop. We aim to provide every visitor with an exceptional experience which exceeds their expectations in a welcoming and friendly environment.

Key Day to Day Activities
Operations and Customer Service
* Deliver smooth operation of visitor activities in line with expected standards of service and timekeeping.
* Greet all visitors with a warm welcome creating a great first impression.
* Delivering a high standard of customer service to every visitor; anticipating and responding to potential issues as they arise.
* Ensure the Brand Home is well presented at all times.
* Efficient operation of tills and IT equipment.
* Follow all IMD and Brand Home procedures in relation to operations, health and safety, cash handling, etc.
* Anticipate operational issues and bring to the attention of supervisors and managers when unable to resolve.
* Opening up and closing of site areas as required in line with local procedures.
Retail
* Delivering a high standard retail experience to all visitors.
* Sharing product knowledge with visitors through sampling and stories to help them select the right product from our range.
* Efficient processing of retail transactions.
* Maintaining presentation and merchandising standards within the retail area.
* Maximise personal productivity in quiet retail periods by addressing non-urgent jobs such as stock repositioning, organising till area, shop cleaning and tidying cupboards.
Events & Other Activities
* Support with the delivery of events at the distillery – setting up, clearing down and delivering event activities.
* On occasion, support with off-site events acting as an ambassador for the distillery.
* Provide support to other departments and IMD activities when required.

* Strong customer skills – has an approachable and helpful style and is dedicated to meeting the needs of customers. Seeks customer feedback to improve service and tour quality.
* An ability to deal successfully with all types and nationalities of people.
* An ability to positively describe the characteristics of the whisky being tasted/sold.
* Flexibility – the willingness to do whatever is needed by the business and the ability to adjust tour content/pitch to meet customer needs.
* Team member - works well with and helps others to achieve common goals.
* Smart appearance - is well presented at all times.
* Timekeeping - ensures tours are well managed and run smoothly.
* Numeric skills to carry out till procedures effectively.
Desirable
* Strong knowledge of whisky production process and brand/product range.
* Fluency in another non-English language.
