The Role and School
This role will be in a supportive and inclusive school based in Sheffield, dedicated to providing high-quality education for children aged 11 to 19 with a wide range of complex needs such as autism spectrum disorders, severe learning difficulties, sensory processing issues, physical disabilities, speech and language impairments, emotional and behavioural disorders, and health conditions that impact learning. As a Classroom Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in implementing individualised education plans and adapting activities to meet the diverse learning requirements of each student. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting with lesson preparations, setting up engaging learning environments, and providing both one-on-one and group support during various activities. You will help manage classroom behaviour with positive reinforcement strategies and provide additional guidance to pupils who require extra support, ensuring they feel included and motivated.
The school promotes a child-centred approach, with a strong emphasis on collaboration among staff, parents, and external professionals. You will work closely with a dedicated team of educators who share a common goal of enhancing the educational experience for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Requirements
The desired Classroom Support Assistant will have.
Experience with SEND: Previous experience working with children with special needs. Continuing Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing training and development in SEND Patience and Empathy: Understanding and compassionate approach to support.
