Job overview
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board's Welsh Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Centre, in partnership with the Psychology & Psychological Therapies Directorate, offers an exciting opportunity for a HCPC Registered Highly Specialised Practitioner Psychologist - Band 8b to be part of a recently developed multi-disciplinary outreach team based in UHL. This dedicated MDT provides input to DGH’s across Wales, advising on specialist care and supporting local clinical teams in the holistic management of people with highly complex needs.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Psychological skills are highly valued within the Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Service. There is an opportunity for providing and designing psychological care, for direct client work, work with families, consultancy, staff-focused interventions, innovation, service improvement/design, care pathway improvement, skills training and research/audit.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Good Honours degree in Psychology with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) with the BPS.
* Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology accredited by the HCPC.
* HCPC registered as a practitioner psychologist.
* Post doctoral training/ experience in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
* Evidence of peer reviewed publications, presentations at conferences, or similar contributions.
Experience
* Substantial and demonstrable post-qualification experience of working as a HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist.
* Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups.
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment.
* Experience of teaching, training and professional and clinical supervision.
Skills
* Skills in the use of highly complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
* Able to take responsibility for managing and providing a specialist service.
Special Knowledge
* Formal training and supervision of other psychologists.
* Evidence of significant post-qualification continuing professional development.
Personal Qualities
* Commitment to and interest in working with people within medical settings.
* Ability to communicate clearly and with sensitivity – verbally and in writing.
Other
* Ability to travel between work sites in a timely manner.
* Ability to speak Welsh and willing to use in a work context.
