We need a Cost E ngineer to join our Project Controls team at AWE. It’s a truly exciting time to join us with a lot of scope for progression and work on fascinating projects within Project Controls. Location: There is a requirement to be onsite at our offices in Aldermaston, RG7 4PR up to 2 days per week. Salary range : Starting at £ 3 8,14 0 up to £42,000 this is very much open to upwards negotiation if you have the skill s and experience that we need. What’s exciting is: You will be joining the business to be part of one of the most complex infrastructure programmes in the country at a pivotal moment in its evolution. The UK government has committed substantial investment into improving our infrastructure, so we are building a talented team to make the most of this opportunity. It is a new approach for AWE and we need someone who can support a new programme in its set up then evolution into a full, long-term project. As a Cost Engineer, y ou will be w orking in Project Controls with responsibility for all aspects of Cost within one of the Programme Controls Teams. You will be responsible for the establishment, development, maintenance of timely, accurate cost data, and reports, including forecasts, performance analysis, earned value, cash flows, and monthly reports on the Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP). All of this will support the project in minimising the Estimate At Completion (EAC) for the Programme in accordance with best value. A typical day for a Cost Engineer could look like this: P roduction and maintenance of accurate cost and cash forecasts in alignment with the Cost Assessment of all changes and accurate representation of approved changes within the Programme budgets Assisting with the development of cost systems and reports to ensure delivery of Project objectives M aintenance all cost data for the Programme within the financial control system P rovi sion of timely and focussed cost reporting for the Programme to key stakeholders A ccurate assessment of the EAC for the Programme E nsuring that earned value techniques and indices are correctly implemented in the Programme Compar ison and analys is of trends within the Programme and identif ication of risk and opportunities R eview, acceptance and integration of cost estimates and forecasts provided by Tier 1 Contractors and suppliers Adhere nce to governance and Cost standards and procedures Ensur ing all Project documents, in particular Sensitive Nuclear Information, is correctly marked, and protected in accordance with AWE policies and procedures We would like you to demonstrate or have experience of: P rofessionally qualified up to HNC Success in a Project Controls environment or similar Cost role on a major Technical/Engineering defence project Adept with tech such as Cost to o ls, Excel and IT B uild ing rapport and creating great relationships S upporting the team environment Some reasons we think you’ll love it here: 9-day working fortnight – meaning you get every other Friday off work. 270 hours holiday Market leading contributory pension scheme (we will pay between 9% and 13% of your pensionable pay depending on your contributions) A truly meaningful role where your hard work impacts on our mission to keep the nation safe and secure.
