We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Apprentice to join the team of highly skilled technicians here at Alton Towers Resort. In this role, you will learn the key principles of Engineering & Maintenance of all our fantastic rides, hotels and waterpark. Supported by your studies, you will gain an understanding of the statutory and legislative requirements of keeping our guests, colleagues and business safe at all times. As you develop within your role, you will always have Health & Safety as your number 1 priority, learning more about Merlin Entertainments and the amazing career you could have working for the UK’s number 1 Theme Park Resort. This is a full time course which will run for around 3 and a half years, starting in August 2025. In this role you will gain a solid understanding of: Health, Safety and Risk Assessment including working at heights and manual handling. Analytical and scientific methods for Engineers Instrumentation and Control Principles and Applications Mathematics for Engineering Technicians Principles of attraction/ride maintenance strategy and daily, weekly, monthly, annual preventative maintenance Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic and Digital Principles, Processes and Applications Quality Management/Assurance Principles and Safety Management Systems Applications for Pneumatics and Hydraulics Destructive and non-destructive inspection techniques Ride and Attraction maintenance processes, principles and applications Principles of First Aid and supporting the evacuation of customers We work in partnership with JCB Academy to deliver this Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). When attending JCB Academy, associated courses or visits, you will act as an exemplary Merlin employee at all times. We are looking for someone who: Is passionate about the industry and enthusiastic about progressing their career. Has at least 5 GCSE’s at C/4 including; English & Maths GCSE C/4 or L2 Functional/Key Skills (required prior to enrolment) Is energetic and proactive with a passion for engineering and a willingness to learn and develop within our resort engineering department.
