Your role: We’re looking for a highly organized, experienced, and diligent Payroll Supervisor to join our Finance & Accounting team to oversee our payroll initiatives and the international growth of our fast-paced SaaS company. This role will be based in our London office and will report to Global Relay’s head office in Vancouver, Canada. The Payroll Supervisor will play a key role in managing the UK payroll team in day-to-day operational activities as they relate to payroll processing and maintenance for our UK and global operations. The Payroll Supervisor will primarily oversee payroll processing for over 500 UK-based employees and a growing headcount in Europe and Asia-Pacific for jurisdictions such as Sweden, Switzerland and Australia. If you are pursuing opportunities in payroll and ready to take the next step in your career, apply today Your responsibilities: Lead and mentor members of the UK Payroll team, ensuring excellence in work product through team member training and development Conduct detailed review and oversight of payroll processing for 500 employees in the UK and abroad Perform first line review of payroll submission for the UK and international payrolls ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards Act as primary point of contact between Global Relay and payroll service providers in the UK and internationally to ensure that pay runs and ad hoc matters are addressed timely and comprehensively Coordinate Senior Management’s review of significant or non-routine matters and address queries on a timely basis to submit final payroll on schedule for all countries Review financial reconciliations and analyses for all employee benefit programs for employee withholdings, taxes, and financial reporting purposes Collaborate with the Payroll Supervisor (North America) on triaging and responding to process and business need changes as they impact the global Payroll function Review submission of pension information to the pension provider on a timely basis each month Review annual year end payroll documentation, including but not limited to UK P60s, P11Ds, and other required statutory filings Oversee and ensure completeness and accuracy of payroll and benefit records on an ongoing basis Review cost centers and post payroll journal entries prepared by the UK Payroll team on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis Review and oversee the timely submission of government reporting and remittance requirements Champion the relationship between Human Resources, Payroll, and Finance on cross-functional matters (i.e. benefit plan and compensation review) and ensuring company policies are implemented that address current legislation as well as business needs while aligning to global company policies Act as a resource and provide support to the Payroll team in addressing global payroll inquiries from employees and managers, providing responses on a timely basis Understand current payroll legislation and requirements and keep informed of any pending changes in the countries in which Global Relay operates Research applicable tax treatments as it relates to payroll, benefits, and pension in the countries in which Global Relay operates Assist in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of operating procedures and best practices for all payroll processes, alongside the Human Resources team, looking for areas of streamlining and automation wherever possible Assist in the preparation of payroll inputs for annual corporate tax filings and tax incentive programs such as the UK Research and Development Expenditure Credit (RDEC) program Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and documents at all times Assist in providing variance analysis for payroll and other finance matters, as required Assist in other ad hoc departmental projects, as required About you: Minimum 5 years of applicable payroll experience with comprehensive knowledge of UK regulations Familiarity with foreign payroll jurisdictions, particularly Sweden, Switzerland and Australia, is an asset but not required Established leader with minimum 2 years of supervisory experience Experience in a growing, high-tech environment is an asset A diploma or degree in business administration or related field, with some Accounting courses; UK Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) certification preferred Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high attention to detail Ability to be professional and exercise tact and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information Exceptional adaptability, organizational, and self-management skills Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize a dynamic list of work on a day-to-day basis Strong sense of deadlines and ownership of work Excellent telephone etiquette and ability to write clear, concise and formal business communications Driven to research payroll rules and regulations of additional jurisdictions on a proactive and as-needed basis Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment Familiarity with the NetSuite ERP system and cloud-based accounting applications is an asset What you can expect: At Global Relay, there’s no ceiling to what you can achieve.
