The successful Process Safety Engineer will lead and promote a positive chemical plant safety and process safety culture within the workplace and throughout the business. Advise, guide and mentor the workforce from managers to operators in matters of safe, efficient and effective chemical and process plant design and operation. This role is permanently based in the Newton Aycliffe plant. Responsibilities As a Process Safety Engineer you will ensure the site chemical plant, processes, waste streams and equipment operate in line with current legislation, guidance and procedures You will inspect facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential risks Provide chemical engineering and plant design expertise and knowledge across the site Technical authority and leader for site HAZOP, CHAZOP process and procedures Own and manage the processes procedures and contractors associated with the safety control and prevention of spread of Legionella Work with internal and external stakeholders, including assessment bodies on all areas of quality and compliance. Continuous improvement of the management of Process Chemical Plant processes within the Facilities and Clean Room Areas. Requirements / Experience / Qualifications Chemical Engineering Degree ideally IOSH Safety Qualification 3 years in a chemical engineering process related role or as a chemist in a manufacturing industry undertaking process and safety duties Experience of working with hazardous chemicals Proven analytical and problem solving skills Experience of development and implementation of ‘process safety systems’ Evidence of performing HAZOP/CHAZOP assessments
