Job Title : MIG Fabricator Welder Location: Warwickshire Job Type : Full-time, Permanent Hourly Rate : £16.00 per hour Working Hours: 45 hours per week Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced MIG Fabricator Welder with a strong background in structural welding to a coded standard on mild steel. The ideal candidate will have experience welding steel components ranging from 10mm to 100mm thickness, using MIG welding techniques. Additionally, the role requires experience using an overhead crane for the safe movement of large steel components. You will be expected to work to strict welding codes and specifications while ensuring safety, efficiency, and high-quality results. Key Responsibilities: MIG Welding on Mild Steel: Perform MIG welding on mild steel components, particularly in thicknesses ranging from 10mm to 100mm, ensuring precise, strong, and clean welds that meet coded welding standards and project specifications. Structural Fabrication: Interpret and work from engineering drawings and blueprints to fabricate structural steel components, including cutting, grinding, assembly, and fitting. Coded Welding Standards: Ensure all welds meet the relevant codes and standards (e.g., EN ISO 9606, BS EN 1090) and possess or be willing to undergo coding tests. Overhead Crane Operation: Safely operate an overhead crane to lift, move, and position large steel components as part of the fabrication process. Quality Control: Inspect and measure welded parts for accuracy and quality, ensuring they meet the required tolerances and pass necessary testing or inspection. Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and operate equipment safely. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain welding machines, tools, and overhead crane equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition. Collaboration: Work closely with the production team and supervisors to complete projects on time and resolve any fabrication or welding issues. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvements, share ideas for enhancing welding techniques, and assist in training apprentices or less experienced staff when necessary. Key Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience in structural welding to a coded standard on mild steel (e.g., EN ISO 9606, BS EN 1090 or equivalent). Strong MIG welding skills, particularly on mild steel in thicknesses ranging from 10mm to 100mm.Experience operating an overhead crane for lifting and positioning heavy components safely and effectively. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. High attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship. Knowledge of welding procedures and standards for structural steel fabrication. Relevant welding qualifications or certifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent) are essential. Forklift license (desirable but not essential). Experience with other welding methods (e.g., TIG, Stick) is beneficial but not essential. Ability to pass welding coding tests, if required.
