Due to expanding numbers, both in students and staff; we are seeking to recruit an outstanding leader for our Geography Department, which is part of our Humanities Faculty. This is a thriving area of the school which encompasses; History, Geography, Religious Studies, Business, Economics, Psychology and Sociology and covers all three key stages. The Humanities faculty has been growing and improving in recent years, with the average GCSE Progress score in humanities subjects last year being and excellent +0.57.
About the Role
The Humanities and Social Sciences faculty comprises of eight dedicated members of staff of varying experiences and specialisms. We teach a highly ambitious, fully resourced, curriculum from year 7 to year 11 and the subjects within the faculty prove a popular choice for our A level students. Students study history, geography and religious studies at key stage 3 and then at GCSE select either history or geography which they can continue to study at A level.
We are seeking an experienced and inspiring leader to work with our Charnwood staff, the Head of Humanities and the DRET Curriculum team to drive the geography team and continue its development and curriculum offer to our students. The successful candidate will be a motivated, hard working individual who will support and challenge all students with a history of improving standards, uptake and raising student outcomes. The Geography teachers across KS3 have a range of specialisms, with some non-specialist teachers, due to the nature of a Humanities Faculty. KS3 resources are centralised within our Trust and adapted within the school for our students; whereas for both GCSE and A Level, Geography follows the AQA specification.
The Head of Geography will be fully supported by the Head of Humanities Faculty and the Trust network of staff.
This is a full time, permanent position.

Who we are looking for
Subject Degree at BA or above
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experienced working in education, high school setting
Evidence of applying continued professional development
Evidence of teaching and development of the subject
Excellent English, Maths and relevant IT skills
A genuine passion for teaching Geography
Clear understanding of the curriculum and what is expected of the role
