We have a vacancy for 2 Band 2 HCA's to join our team on Ward 3 (Limb Reconstruction Service & Elective Orthopaedic Surgery) at Broadgreen.
This is a great opportunity to join the team on the well established Elective Orthopaedic Ward. We are looking for an experienced HCA with NVQ Level 2 to join the nursing team. Based at an excellent established and friendly facility on the Broadgreen site. Broadgreen has excellent staff facilities with onsite parking available. Close to the M62, with good bus and train services nearby.
The posts available are Part-Time with rotation to night duty as required.
Preparing patients for theatre.
Post-Operative care of patients (under the supervision of Registered Nurse) who have undergone surgery.
Assist patients in meeting their hygiene needs and carry out all aspects of personal care and grooming.
General care of patients, reporting anything untoward to Registered Nursing Staff.
Preparation and serving of patient’s meals, drinks and snacks. Assisting / feeding patients as necessary.
Reports patients dietary intake as indicated in the patients plan of care.
Carry out any movement and handling within the safe practice guidelines from mandatory training and in relation to the patient’s manual handling plan.
Assist in the prevention of pressure sore development as directed by the Registered nurse in conjunction with the patient’s plan of care.
Obtaining specimens from patients for ward or laboratory testing.
Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients and carers.
Assist patients in completing menu forms and liaise with the Catering Department with regard to the number of meals needed.
Enable patients to maintain/improve their mobility by use of exercise and mobility appliances as directed by individual care plans.
Assist in the prevention of pressure sore development as directed by the Registered nurse in conjunction with the patient’s plan of care.
Obtaining specimens from patients for ward or laboratory testing.
Escorting patients to clinical departments within the hospital Trust.
Assist Registered Nurse in performing last offices.
Initiate Basic Life Support techniques as appropriate and provides assist to the registered nurse as required in prolonged resuscitation situations.
Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients and carers.
