Opportunities have arisen within the CT and MRI Radiology Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) for Band 3 Radiology Department Assistants. This role will support the CT and MRI service within the current hospital site at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital (NNUH), Cromer District Hospital (CDH) and the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) which is due to open in February 2025.
The Radiology department is within the Diagnostic and Clinical Support Services division and provides diagnostic imaging and therapeutic treatments across a range of specialties across the Trust.
The CT and MRI departments are committed to provide a 7 day service. No day is the same in these dynamic places of work, serving the wide variety of specialties within the hospital and within the wider community.
This role will be based in the CT and MRI departments at NNUH and new CDC. Only MRI is available at CDH.
Hours of work: Participation in the 7-day service. Full time/ Part time, Bank holidays and Night shifts. 12.5 hour shifts primarily.

The successful candidate will be flexible and have excellent communication skills, speaking with patients, colleagues and team members, and the wider multi-professional team within the Hospital Trust.
This role involves assisting with all aspects of CT and MRI Imaging, including preparing patients for examinations, helping to position patients for examinations, supporting all staff participating in the delivery of a safe compassionate healthcare service.
In CT, the post holder will assist with interventional procedures, biopsies and drainages as required.
In MRI, the post holder will work towards becoming an MRI Safe Authorised member of the MRI team.
In addition, the successful candidate (s) will be trained to perform intravenous (IV) cannulation on patients prior to their radiological examination.
The role is primarily patient focused so good communication is essential to assist patients and to demonstrate care and empathy to those who are unwell or distressed, helping them through the Imaging process.
The post holder will contribute to the provision of a high standard of care for patients and carry out some duties unaided, in accordance with Trust/Directorate policies, at the discretion of qualified staff.

• Under the supervision of radiographers assist with all aspects of imaging, including changing patients in preparation for examination and explaining procedures.
• Assist radiographers in the positioning of patients for examinations
• Prepare all imaging rooms to receive patients
• Have an awareness of the patient’s condition, noting any observed changes and report to relevant trained staff i.e. Consultant Radiologists, Radiographers and nursing staff.
• Liaise with Radiologists, radiographers and other Directorate team members, in the effective management of worklists.
• Ensure that the examination room is kept clean and tidy, maintaining adequate supplies of linen, gowns and consumables, liaising with appropriate stock suppliers within the Trust.
