We’re looking for hard working, motivated, team-players to join Derbyshire Constabulary as Custody Detention Officers (CDO’s). Our role is not without its challenges, we work long, sometimes difficult shifts. But, being a CDO is incredibly important – you’ll at times need to be ready for volatile situations, with our visitors sometimes being hostile, under-the-influence and angry – keeping calm, remembering your training and looking out for your colleagues is an essential skill in this role. In addition to that we sometimes have visitors who need your compassion, empathy and maybe just someone to talk to. You’ll be responsible for booking in, dealing with & looking after people, sometimes at their most vulnerable. We are looking for great people to join our cohorts commencing from late Spring 2025. What You’ll Be Doing Search persons, secure the detention of persons and escort persons within a police station. Deal with all aspects of covering the reception, handling, care and welfare of persons detained within the Force designated custody suites. Attend and give evidence at court and at other hearings. The must haves Have previous experience of dealing with people in difficult and confrontational circumstances. Have the ability to diffuse and resolve incidents. Have the ability to prepare records in a methodical and accurate manner. Salary range: £25,626 - £31,296 plus 20% shift allowance and weekend working enhancements.
