ER Recruitment is working in partnership with a non-profit charity that provides compassionate care for patients, their family, and carers.
Our client is looking for a passionate and commercially minded individual to drive the strategy of their retail outlets, cafes, warehouse, and online sales.
Role & Responsibilities of the Head of Retail:
* Develop and deliver a 3-year Enterprise strategy which will incorporate shops, cafés, e-commerce, and warehouse.
* Work with the Director of Income Generation and Marketing and the Director of Finance to prepare the annual enterprise budget for income and expenditure.
* Be accountable for budget management, effectively communicating and acting upon any opportunities and threats that may arise throughout the course of the financial year.
* Offer excellent strategic leadership, expertise, and motivation to colleagues (employee and volunteer) within retail and catering teams.
* Coach and support colleagues to achieve agreed financial targets, satisfy organisational and departmental aims and objectives, and nurture talent helping to retain staff.
* Continue the development and delivery of a corporate style retail operation, with best practice, professional standards, and innovation as guiding principles.
* Research, evaluate and initiate implementation of new retail sites or the relocation of existing retail sites, taking professional advice as necessary.
* Strategically review and monitor leases in a timely way to inform decision-making on the overall estate.
* Ensure compliance across the estate with all relevant policies and procedures, keeping abreast with changes within the sector and adapting and developing policies and procedures accordingly.
* Work collaboratively across the organisation and closely alongside other Managers.
* Ensure suitable supplies of goods are sold in accordance with agreed retail policy, making sure excellent stock controls are in place and effectively managed across the whole estate.
* Ensure shop premises are properly merchandised and maintained in accordance with the terms of lease, licence, or other covenants.
* Ensure that all processes and systems are fit for purpose and constantly review the operational framework to ensure that the highest standards are being met.
* Engage in professional development and training to maintain and develop knowledge and skills.
About You as the Head of Retail:
* Experience leading a team in a retail environment; hospitality (food & beverage) experience would also be desirable but not essential.
* Multi-site experience leading Managers who also have their own direct reports.
* Commercially minded and can drive continuous improvement.
* Strong strategic and operational background.
* Background in people leadership being hands-on with the team in a coaching and mentoring style.
* Full UK Licence and vehicle are a must to travel between sites.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* A people person.
