A reputable oil and gas client is currently looking for an experienced and motivated Buyer on a fixed-term contract basis. The Buyer is responsible for a particular, defined aspect of the Supply Chain process. This will involve the purchase of goods, services, and facilities. You will be a part of a department that supports all the company’s regions with the vessels, equipment, and people they need to deliver projects worldwide from our global operational bases.
Responsibilities and duties include:
1. Managing and actioning the procurement of goods and services for allocated vessel, asset, or operational base/workshop.
2. Planning and executing forwarding and expediting strategies to ensure the timely arrival of goods and services without undue delay/penalty with clearance.
3. Operating within standardized SCM policies, processes, and systems and leveraging the systems side to support the provision of relevant and quality metrics.
4. Managing the defined elements of the supply chain process as delegated. Working within cross-functional teams to collaborate with vendors on cost improvement and to create better value delivery.
5. Capitalizing on lessons learned and performing in accordance with best practices, striving to mitigate risk, promoting safety and integrity consistently.
6. Contributing to the selection, management, and monitoring of vendors.
7. Participating in the evaluation of the vendors.
8. Proactively supporting internal clients such as Vessel Teams, ROV, and Project Teams with the performance of the assigned SCM activities.
9. Maintaining contact with vendors, including appropriate site visits, during the entire process to ensure adherence to quality and deadlines.
10. Maintaining and producing appropriate reports and logs for all relevant internal parties, proactively highlighting issues to ensure these are identified in advance and can be addressed.
Applicants to this role require:
1. Demonstrable experience within procurement and associated commercial experience gained within the Energy industry.
2. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products. SAP and SAP Ariba would be desirable.
3. Marine/Vessel SCM experience with exposure to procurement processes and familiarity with RFQ/tendering.
4. Knowledge of market/industry suppliers and service providers.
5. Strong negotiating and influencing skills, acting with professionalism and integrity at all times.
6. Analytical skills with the ability to work with detail and accuracy.
7. Proactive planning and organizing skills, able to identify and effectively prioritize workload and successfully meet multiple, often competing deadlines.
8. Committed to continuous improvement, identifying and driving change opportunities.
