We are looking for an experienced midwife to provide inspirational leadership and management for our Intrapartum service, based at Worcester Royal is a job share to work with the existing Delivery SuiteWard successful candidate will be able to support the Matron in managing the clinical front facing team and the daily operational issues to ensure safe and outstanding care for women in the intrapartum period.
Our ideal candidate will inspire and facilitate the continuing development of Delivery Suite staff by providing an open supportive and encouraging environment in which all staff feel valued and where best practice prospers. They will have a wide range of clinical skills and be keen to take part in the leadership of the unit. You will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and strive to improve the quality of our services.

Main duties of the job
Undertake clinical activity to satisfy the NMC requirements for registration, act as a role model by maintaining clinical competency and credibility through evidence based clinical practice, while being aware of the needs of the team.
To provide leadership to delivery suite and co-ordinate all staff efforts to ensure the provision of high quality care, promotion of normality and choice for women.
Maintain and develop a high level of clinical and managerial skills and knowledge
Comply with requirements for mandatory training and develop and contribute towards training in key pertinent skills
Be aware of Local and national Safeguarding policies and procedures and take appropriate action to safeguard women.
Undertake clinical skills as per the competencies for the role.
Comply with the Trust infection Control Policy. Attend Infection Control training as required with the department and directed by manager.
Endeavour to achieve a high standard of morale by effective organisation and leadership and promote team working facilitating a culture of professional respect and co-operation
Will participate in the monitoring of patient outcome through audit and patient feedback.
Will lead on the development of midwifery practice on Delivery Suite, actively promoting and developing care pathways which ensure best practice standards are met, and experience/outcomes for women are improved.

Job Purpose:
The delivery suite ward manager will use midwifery expertise to promote excellence in maternity care, leading and supporting midwives to realise their full potential as autonomous practitioners placing women and their families at the centre of care. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, passionate midwife who wishes to develop their managerial and leadership skills. The post holder will ensure that high quality midwifery care is delivered. The post holder will contribute to the maintenance of high standards of clinical practice, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, and will participate in the monitoring of patient outcomes through audit and patient feedback. The post holder will work closely with the Maternity Matron for Intrapartum Care, Maternity Ward Manager, Delivery Suite Coordinators and midwives and obstetric team to develop and sustain a maternity service that is responsive to the needs of women, staff and both local and national agendas. They will take the lead on the development of midwifery practice on delivery suite, actively promoting and developing care pathways which ensure best practice standards are met, and experience/outcomes for women are improved. The delivery suite manager will make a significant contribution to the clinical governance agenda by ensuring that practice is evidence based and through the development of staff competence at all levels, audits are undertaken and learning is supported across the team. To ensure good standards of practice on delivery suite, and the maternity unit as a whole, through effective quality assurance measures such as clinical audit programmes.
To ensure all staff are conversant and comply with Trust Policies and regulations, and attend mandatory training/core training for roles, as instructed.
To monitor the safe and effective use of all equipment and the economic use of supplies, ordering replacement equipment together with maintenance of that equipment.
Management
To ensure that a duty rota for the staff within the department will provide effective and well-balanced cover to meet with the requirements of the service and ensures the presence of a suitably qualified and experienced midwife at all times - taking into account the budgetary constraints.
To liaise with other Ward/Department Managers within the Directorate and other Directorates as necessary, to place workload and skill mix as effectively as possible.
To inform and discuss with Matron/Directorate Manager any problems regarding management of staff.
Allocate, co-ordinate, monitor and assess the work of teams and individuals.
To manage the department-allocated budget effectively to remain within financial constraints.
To ensure effective two-way communication with all disciplines so that patients receive optimum care.
