Description About the role: We are seeking a competent Wholetime Firefighter IC (Control) to join our dedicated team, following the successful outcome from the recent Crew Manager (Control) promotion process. The role of Firefighter IC (Control) is responsible primarily for managing and supporting the delivery of services provided by Cornwall Fire & Rescue Fire Control Room, including the management and support required for the delivery of an emergency service. As a Firefighter IC (Control) you will assist and deputise for the Crew Manager (Control) on a designated Watch, working 12 hours shifts on a 2 day-2 night- 4 off shift system. This will include providing supervisory management, leadership and assisting in coordinating the daily fire control activities. You will answer emergency calls from various sources including other Emergency Services, specialist bodies and neighbouring Fire and Rescue Service Controls concerning incidents and operate / monitor all systems within the Control Room in a professional and efficient manner. You will be required to obtain necessary information from callers for mobilising purposes, undertaking radio communication with appliances and vehicles, monitoring movements, resource management of appliances and officers, responding to radio messages from the incident ground and support all Fire Control and operational functions. You will be able to contribute to the protection, prevention and emergency response functions of the Service, to save and protect life, property and the environment. Eligibility to apply: This process is open to external and internal Wholetime Competent Firefighter Control Operators who wish to apply for the role of Firefighter IC (Control). We are looking for a positive, motived person who has supervisory experience or has evidence based development in L1 Control Incident Command and leadership. Applicants must be able to demonstrate competence as L1 Fire Control Commander. Have evidence of development towards supervisory or incident command qualification. Leadership skills in line with the NFCC Leadership Framework and the Code of Ethics. ICT skills including the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook. Good communication (written and verbal) Worked as part of a team. Desirable Had previous experience at a supervisory level leading a Fire Control Room. Attained their Level 1 command in Fire Control, WM8 or similar Fire Control Command assessment. Experience in using Vision 4 mobilising system and DS3000 ICCS. Salary Firefighter IC (Control) - £38,039 Pension Cornwall Council Local Government Pension scheme based on your career average earnings. This includes the option for extra voluntary contributions.
