Job Title: Writer/Producer
Location: Chester, CT Office/Remote Hybrid
Department: Marketing
Reports To: Director of Marketing
Summary
We’re looking for a Writer/Producer to craft compelling stories, drive content creation, and help shape the voice of our brand across platforms. If you can write like a journalist, think like a marketer, and manage like a producer — we want to hear from you!
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Write engaging and clear content for videos.
* Produce content from concept to completion: storyboarding, scriptwriting, coordinating shoots, and overseeing post-production.
* Collaborate across departments including sales, engineering and product marketing to ensure brand alignment and technical accuracy.
* Interview internal subject matter experts, customers, and first responders to bring authentic stories to life.
* Manage content calendars, production schedules, and vendors or freelancers as needed.
* Ensure consistency of voice, tone, and messaging across content.
Education and Experience
* 3–5+ years of experience in writing, producing, and content creation (agency, brand, media, or in-house).
* Exceptional writing skills with a strong grasp of storytelling, grammar, and voice.
* Experience producing video and photo content — from pre-production through delivery.
* Comfort working in technical or industrial subject matter (automotive, public safety, or manufacturing a plus).
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
* Self-starter attitude — you like to take ownership and get things done.
Bonus If You Have:
* Experience writing for or working with first responders or government sectors.
* Skills in Adobe Creative Suite or similar editing tools.
All Employees Shall
* Comply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirements.
* Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
* Attend scheduled EH&S training program.
* Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans.
* Recommend improved EH&S practices.
Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and third parties. This ability to communicate requires the employee to be conversant in English as the majority of our workforce and the third parties that we encounter only speak English.
The incumbent is responsible for complying with the policies in Whelen’s “Employee Handbook.”
