We are seeking a highly qualified Lead Systems Engineer for our Broomfield, CO location to join the team developing the Sol quantum computer. The ideal candidate will be a comprehensive systems engineering professional with a background in physics, responsible for guiding the system through its entire lifecycle—from initial conceptualization and design through detailed development, rigorous validation, and product release. By facilitating cross-team collaboration, integrating technical insights, and maintaining a holistic view of the project's technical scope, this role will be instrumental in bridging the system’s architectural vision with practical implementation. This role will use their expertise in designing cohesive systems to inform system design and will act as a communication hub for technical decision-making and documentation, ensuring that the team's collective expertise is captured, understood, and effectively leveraged throughout the product's development cycle. Candidates should expect to be immersed in a fast-paced, team-based, and challenging technical environment where an individual with talent and initiative can stand out and thrive.
All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.

* Lead system engineering of a trapped-ion quantum computer based on a quantum charge coupled device architecture
* Develop, define, and manage system requirements, specifications, and engineering documentation, with a focus on developing “right size” solutions to system development needs, appropriate for the maturity of the technology.
* Working with other Sol team leads, you will derive, organize, and communicate the system requirements and high-level requirements for each subsystem.
* You will act as a consultant to subsystem teams as they derive detailed subsystem requirements from higher level requirements, ensure that requirements are understood, mutually compatible, complete
* Develop, publish, and maintain system engineering artifacts for high level system verification and validation, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
* You will be responsible for organizing and conducting system design reviews, ensuring artifacts are updated and accessible
* Guide technical decisions throughout the product lifecycle, including design, implementation, test and integration, ensuring on-time delivery.
* Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and buy-in.
* Mentor junior engineers
