We are currently recruiting Special Needs Assistants to provide essential support for children with special educational needs in primary education across Lancaster. This role offers an hourly rate ranging from £13 to £14, depending on your experience and qualifications. As a Special Needs Assistant, you will work with children who have various SEN requirements, including Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges, cognitive delay, global delay, Down syndrome, and hearing impairments. We take care in matching you with the appropriate SEN needs based on your expertise, ensuring that both you and the children you support can thrive.
Responsibilities
1. Preparation of resources and activities for 1:1 support tailored to the child's needs.
2. Collaborate with classroom teachers / SENCO to organise appropriate activities.
3. Liaise with other professionals such as Teacher's, TA, specialist support staff.
4. Work closely with other LSAs and support staff.
5. Work with classes, small groups and with children on a one to one basis.
6. Monitor and track the development of the pupil In question and support personal development and confidence.
Essential requirements
7. Experience of working with young people.
8. Be comfortable and confident in managing challenging behaviours.
9. Ability to engage with, and build rapport with young people.
10. Be creative, proactive and flexible in their supporting style.
11. Have experience with SEN or knowledge learning difficulties.
12. TA qualified.
