Vacancy - Electrical Technician
Are you an experienced and qualified Electrical Engineer looking to develop your experience in a technician role and beyond? Do you have experience in an industrial environment working with heavy plant and equipment? We are seeking an Electrical Technician to work within Mersey Engineering.
Your role
In this role you will work with the Infrastructure engineering team, to deliver on-time delivery, continuous flow, customer satisfaction and zero defects, across a day’s role, carrying out maintenance on heavy plant and equipment.
You will complete planned and reactive maintenance activities and carry out modifications to all types of heavy plant and equipment, liaising with operations to prioritise breakdown repairs, using fault finding diagnostic techniques and equipment to reduce the impact of reactive maintenance. You will assist the team when required in a range of activities, including project work, QA systems and Health and Safety. It’s vital that all activities are documented and carried out with due care and attention in line with our Health and Safety policy and HSE regulations.
What you'll bring
You will be qualified to a minimum of ONC/HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering with experience of working with heavy plant and equipment in an industrial environment. Experience maintaining hydraulic equipment, impounding pumps, lock gates, bridges, and related systems would be advantageous. A working knowledge of Programmable Logical Control or drive control systems and HV networks would also be desired. Additionally, you should have experience working with PLC equipment and be willing to participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours reactive maintenance when needed.
You will be expected to consistently uphold Peel Ports' Health and Safety standards. You should be able to create Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and have a solid understanding of Permit to Work systems. Experience with CMMS systems, including fault and defect reporting, is required. You should also have knowledge and experience with relevant statutory requirements and legislation, including but not limited to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER, LOLER, and PSSR.
