Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic colleagues to join our Acute Medicine team at Good Hope Hospital.
This is a fixed term post with a duration of the post of 12 months. Within UHB Trust we also provide opportunities to obtain CESR accreditation (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration)
This post requires the post holder to work at equivalent to ST3+ level within Acute Medicine. This includes participation on the general medical on call rota including nights and weekends.
Our department includes a Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), inpatient beds on our Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Short Stay Ward as well as a Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC)
We provide excellent opportunities for learning and professional development. We also encourage a special interest and can facilitate training in focused ultrasound.
Main duties of the job
*Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues
*Provide support to junior team including trainees, Locally Employed Doctors and ACPs
*Contribution to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education
*Daily ward rounds of our Acute Medical Inpatients with Consultant support working 0800-1600 Monday to Friday
*Practical procedures
*Shifts within the Same Day Emergency Care Unit
*GIM On call rota commitments- nights, long days and weekends for admissions and ward cover

Job responsibilities
*The appointee will be encouraged to participate in teaching for medical students, junior doctors and nurses in the department in speciality aspects of care.
*Postgraduate Teaching - There is an active postgraduate teaching programme suitable to the needs of junior doctors at various levels of training. This includes weekly lunch meeting (Monday), hospital grand round on (Thursday) as well as Hot Cases Presentations on Wednesday. The consultants conduct a daily teaching/service ward round.
*Participation in Quality Improvement and Governance is encouraged
