We have exciting opportunities for you to join our rapidly growing theatre team that offers a 24/7 elective and emergency service. We have a wide range of specialties including ENT, Maxillo Facial, Trauma & Orthopaedic, General Surgery, Urology Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Plastic Surgery, and Breast Surgery. We can provide opportunities to work both anaesthetically and surgically, as many of our ODPs are dual skilled.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is expected to work closely with all disciplines to ensure the promotion of high standards for all patients requiring all aspects of peri operative care, following appropriate training encompassing a variety of specialities.
The role of the nurse/operating department practitioner is to provide a holistic, high quality, patient-focused, comprehensive, efficient, and safe service for the patients cared for at Kettering General Hospital, acting with responsibility, accountability, and integrity, reporting adverse events and poor practice to the person in charge. The nurse/operating department practitioner would be expected to use resources and engage in change and service improvements effectively and responsibly.
The post holder will always act in accordance with the NMC code/HCPC and local standards of care and policies.

If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£49.50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019, all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £16. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £49.50 for a new DBS check in 3 years' time.
Please note that new starters with KGH are subject to a six-month probationary period.
