Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services)
Location: Postcombe, Oxfordshire
Salary: £45,000 per annum
The Role
* Produce mechanical schematics, layouts, elevations, and detailed drawings using AutoCAD (Revit experience is a bonus).
* Carry out mechanical engineering calculations including heat loss, pipework sizing, and ductwork design using software such as Hevacomp.
* Prepare accurate equipment schedules aligned with Employers’ Requirements and design standards.
* Review and check technical design documents for compliance with Building Regulations and British Standards.
* Identify and address design risks with practical, well-communicated solutions.
* Attend design meetings and liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors.
* Use electronic document management systems to keep documentation organised and up to date.
* Assist in delivering installation-ready Stage 5 designs.

* Over 20 years delivering Mechanical/HVAC projects throughout the UK.
* Operates across both commercial and residential sectors.
* Office based in Oxfordshire.
* Team of approximately 30 direct employees, including office and site staff.
* Annual turnover around £8.5 million.
* This hire is due to company growth and a strengthened order book.
The Ideal Candidate
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in mechanical building services or HVAC design.
* Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit experience desirable.
* Working knowledge of Hevacomp and familiarity with SAP/SBEM tools.
* Strong understanding of Building Regulations, British Standards, and best practices.
* Experience preparing technical submissions and using document management systems.
* HNC or higher qualification in Building Services Engineering or a related field.
* Excellent communication skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
* Strong IT and organisational skills.
