GRADUATE TRAINEE MATERIALS ENGINEER

With facilities around the world, we serve the automotive, industrial, and Oil & Gas sectors. This Graduate Trainee position is part of the Engineering team, based in our Cramlington Global Centre for Hose Manufacturing.
WHAT TO EXPECT
As a Graduate Trainee working full-time from our Cramlington facility, you will embark on a comprehensive development program designed to equip you with the skills and experience necessary to excel in materials engineering. You will engage in hands-on projects, collaborate with experienced engineers, and participate in rotations across different departments to gain a holistic understanding of our operations.
Key responsibilities:
* Assist in assessing and developing materials for current hose designs and assemblies.
* Participate in the revision and improvement of material specifications to enhance product performance.
* Help manage and maintain Material Data Sheets within our internal systems, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date information.
* Support the goods approval and shelf-life extension program for raw materials.
* Participate in post-failure analysis activities to identify and address material-related issues.
* Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to source and process raw materials.
* Assist in optimising production processes to enhance efficiency and product quality.
* Work closely with material lab technicians on active research and engineering projects.
* Contribute innovative ideas and support experimental setups to test new materials and technologies.
ABOUT YOU
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Process Engineering/Science.
Required Skills:
* Ability to think creatively and contribute fresh ideas to projects.
* Proficient in identifying issues and developing effective solutions.
* Basic understanding of polymer technology or metallurgy is advantageous.
* Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.
* Strong ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
* Enthusiasm for gaining hands-on experience and developing professionally.
