Job Description
As a key member of the EMEA Compensation and Benefits Team, the Director of Compensation and Benefits, EMEA will lead critical projects across the continent, focusing on areas such as pay transparency, job evaluation, and the automation and integration of core compensation and benefits programs into our HRIS solution. This includes overseeing the technical enablement of the annual compensation cycles, incentives, benefits, market benchmarking, and job architecture processes.
The Director will play a key role in shaping the strategy, design, and development of Marriott's compensation and benefits transformation, helping the company attract and retain top talent. Working closely with Human Resources, technology teams, and corporate Centers of Excellence (CoE), the Director will ensure compensation and benefits solutions are aligned with HR objectives and business strategy.
Additionally, this role will collaborate with HR teams across regions to ensure alignment and partner with external organizations to bring in best practices. The aim is to drive more efficient, market-driven compensation and benefits decisions that promote internal equity, external competitiveness, and compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
Specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:
1. Define and lead the compensation and benefits strategy to establish a project roadmap that ensures compliance with the European pay transparency regulation by June 2026, collaborating with internal leaders (headquarters, disciplines and CoEs, HR business partners, and tech teams).
2. Identify potential gaps to the target state, structure and lead strategic workstreams (e.g., pay philosophy documentation, job architecture evolution, salary structure definition, change management, and training) to meet pay regulation requirements while leveraging the opportunity to present a compelling narrative to associates, helping them understand how their compensation and benefits are determined.
3. Drive improvements in pay decisions across the continent by developing the capabilities, processes, and tools needed to empower HR business partners, ensuring they integrate both external and internal equity into every pay decision.
4. Lead initiatives to evolve compensation and benefits processes and integrate them with our HRIS solution, maximizing the value of Marriott's existing technology to optimize compensation and benefits management for all stakeholders.
5. Within the EMEA Total Rewards CoE, review and refine programs and processes to drive further automation, ensuring that the CoE's efforts are directed toward activities that deliver maximum value to both stakeholders and associates.
6. Act as the guardian and ambassador of compensation and benefits data quality, refining existing processes to ensure HR partners achieve a tangible return on investment from updating system information-leveraging powerful analytics and optimizing the time they spend on compensation and benefits matters.
7. Provide compensation consulting expertise to support customers at all levels in the organization in making informed compensation decisions. Independently provide data driven analyses to bring effectiveness, accuracy and efficiency of compensation programs.
8. Collaborate with HR to identify and scope a variety of compensation projects through the development and implementation process. Develop project plans, timelines and resource needs. Manage project milestones and project plans by working and coordinating with key stakeholders. Present findings to leadership and partner with various stakeholders to provide solutions and resolve complex project issues.
9. Develop training and presentation materials for compensation & benefits programs and education for HR Team and Leaders.
10. Assist the VP Compensation and Benefits EMEA with any projects and initiatives upon request.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience
1. 8~10 years' experience in Compensation and Benefits in a large complex organization.
2. Experience in management or support implementation or work with HR compensation systems.
3. Previous experience of managing strategic projects in Compensation and Benefits.
4. A strong background in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics or Economics preferred.
5. Hospitality/ Hotel experience is desirable.
Skills and Knowledge
1. Knowledge of compensation practices, job analysis/ evaluation, benchmarking, local labor regulations, and general HR practices.
2. Excellent project management skills, able to plan and prioritize activities.
3. Great verbal and written communication skills to deliver the right message for the right audience.
4. Enhance expertise in HRIS solutions and their application to support Compensation and Benefits processes, with a preference for Oracle HCM.
5. Expert skills in Excel for analysis, formulas and charting.
6. Strong analytical skills are required to effectively analyze data, with exceptional accuracy.
7. Ability to perform independently or as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment.
8. Ability to work in fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
9. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.
Education
1. Bachelor's Degree, preferable in Human Resources or a related professional area.
