My client is a well-established and widely recognised global manufacturer of innovative specialist products. They are committed to providing exceptional products & services and building long-term relationships with their customers. Due to business demands and continued growth, they are seeking an eager, diligent Area Sales Manager to join their sales team.
The Area Sales Manager will be reporting directly to the UK Sales Manager and will be responsible for developing business directly with key customers within the geographical area while working closely with the internal teams to ensure the full product range gets full market coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage your own time to maximise time spent face to face with potential and existing customers and “influencers” including installers, main and sub-contractors and builders.
2. Maintain a detailed diary of appointments and plans.
3. Provide regular written reports on significant developments, good or bad.
4. Ensure that relevant personnel are advised of any developments.
5. Generate, by proactive efforts, opportunities to increase sales.
6. Follow up sales leads provided by others.
7. Raise quotations against enquiries generated and received – operating always within set guidelines on margins and discounts.
8. Self-generate leads and opportunities to ensure full working days.
9. Provide information on new customers, updating appropriate CRM systems.
10. Support the efforts of colleagues in providing a high-quality service to customers.
11. Contribute to centrally held databases for, importantly, metalworkers and metal merchants.
12. Use promotional materials, catalogues and literature to back up discussions.
13. Be aware of and report to General Managers opportunities to promote the business and its products.
14. Attend relevant trade fairs to identify market trends, competing products and opportunities.
15. Attend relevant trade events / exhibitions to represent the company and be present on the stands and displays.
16. Assist and guide Sales Consultants in making offers and quotations to incoming callers.
17. Make yourself available for meetings as arranged by the National Sales Manager or others.
18. Act in the best interests of the company at all times.
19. Provide field support and technical assistance where required.
20. Partake in product and industry training, both UK and overseas at their European headquarters.
In order to be successful in this role:
1. Proven experience in a sales role, ideally within the construction or similar industry.
2. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
3. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
4. Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings or architectural plans is a plus.
5. Customer-focused attitude with the ability to handle high-pressure situations.
6. Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
