We are seeking a Secondary Special Needs Assistant to join a vibrant and nurturing secondary special needs school in Croydon, London. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while gaining valuable experience in a supportive environment.
Key Details:
1. Start Date: September 2025
2. Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
3. Contract: Fixed term for one academic year (with potential to transition to permanent staff)
4. Pay: £400 to £600 per week (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with autism and complex needs
2. Assist in delivering tailored learning activities and life skills development
3. Support students in managing sensory, communication, and behavioural challenges
4. Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure each student progresses
5. Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
1. Experience working with children or young people with autism and complex needs
2. Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting diverse learners
3. Strong communication and teamwork skills
4. A proactive, resilient, and adaptable attitude
5. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
Desirable:
1. Knowledge of autism-specific strategies, such as TEACCH, PECS, or sensory integration techniques
2. Experience in a special needs school or educational setting
