Description: A vacancy has arisen for a Purchasing Assistant, based in Burgess Hill.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Creation of purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of quantities, prices, discounts, and delivery requirements, including management of urgent and high priority deliveries.
2. Processing supplier invoices for all purchase transactions, checking purchase invoices against order value and resolving discrepancies.
3. Responsible for progressing and coordinating deliveries with suppliers, internal departments, and customers to ensure delivery requirements and expectations are communicated, monitored, and achieved.
4. Update and maintain supplier database and supplier approval records, working with department head to ensure supplier code of practice is followed and best practice adopted.
5. Assist department head in updating and maintenance of purchase records.
6. Provide support to operations team for supplier and customer returns process.
7. Booking of accommodation and other ad-hoc purchases.
8. Creative thinker.
9. High level of numeracy and understanding of stock management.
10. Excellent planning and organisational skills.
11. Strong IT skills, particularly within Microsoft Office.
12. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
13. Pro-active and dynamic approach to working.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Educated to GCSE (or equivalent) and above.
2. Previous experience in a purchasing role would be advantageous as would experience of working within a small team in a fast-paced environment.
3. Experience of working with SAGE and SAP would also be beneficial but is not essential.
Competitive salary, 37 hours a week, Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5pm, Friday 8:30am to 3:40pm, 50 minute lunch.
