Looking for a career where you can truly make a difference? At MacIntyre School, we believe in creating lasting, positive change for children who have learning disabilities and autism. We do more than just the basics - we create person-centred support plans that not only help children get through the day, but also empower them to achieve life-changing milestones. We also offer an innovative curriculum designed to provide the best learning opportunities for each child. Whether they re at school, at home, or out in the community, learning happens everywhere - from off-site activities to everyday moments, it s all about building confidence, independence, and skills that last a lifetime. As a Support Worker within our Children's homes, you ll have the chance to build meaningful, long-term relationships and be part of their personal journey every day. You'll be working with up to ten young people between the ages of 9-19 across 2 of our homes, on a 1:1 basis. Don't worry though - you won't be lone working. If you are on the early shift, you can expect to support with getting ready for school, preparing breakfast, administering medication, and personal care. If you are on the late shift, you could find yourself facilitating after-school activities (trampolining, bowling, swimming, and sensory play are some firm favourites), helping to prepare dinner, general cleaning of the house, and getting ready for bed. Families are important to us and the young children, so it is important that you feel confident communicating with them and providing updates on a daily basis. You will also need to feel confident using IT and record keeping. The children all have different needs and require 24/7 support, and some could display behaviours of concern and have epilepsy. We will support and train you so that you feel confident managing these if they should arise.
