About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Accountant.
North Northamptonshire Council was established in 2021. Four districts and half of one county council came together to form one of the largest unitary councils in the country.
We are looking for an exceptionally talented and enthusiastic person to lead in supporting the Assistant Director of Finance & Accountancy in relation to the Accountancy function including the close down of the Council’s accounts and the production of the Statement of Accounts and the overall financial governance ensuring controls are in place and are being effectively maintained. You will also take a leading role across the organisation in supporting Executive Directors, Assistant Directors and Service Managers in the overall stewardship of the Council’s finances.
We have an established network of senior leaders from CEO to Assistant Director level that are working together to build a supportive “one-Council” culture which is central to our approach and helps to build solid foundations needed to drive future service improvements.
About you
You will have the drive, initiative, confidence and creativity needed to shape services, focus on emerging priorities and deliver excellent services for our residents and local communities. This is a truly unique opportunity to be part of our One Council journey of transformation across North Northamptonshire.
